Queen of Sheba

About

Our Story

Queen of Sheba began as a family dream — to bring the soulful flavors of Yemen to Memphis and share a table where strangers leave as friends. Our name honors Bilqis, the Queen of Sheba, whose ancient kingdom flourished in what is today Yemen.

Every recipe is rooted in tradition, passed down from our grandmothers' kitchens in Yemen. From the bubbling clay pots of saltah to the slow-roasted haneeth and the cardamom-rich coffee, we cook the way our families always have — with patience, generosity, and pride.

Memphis has welcomed us with open arms, and we honor that warmth by sourcing the finest ingredients and treating every guest as family.

What is Yemeni Food?

Yemeni cuisine is built around fire, clay and bread. Saltah — the national dish — arrives bubbling in a hot stone pot, crowned with whipped hulba (fenugreek) foam. Haneeth is lamb slow-roasted until it falls from the bone, served over saffron-stained basmati. Fahsa is shredded meat simmered low with tomato and hot peppers, finished tableside still sizzling.

And no Yemeni table is complete without fresh-baked bread, sweet areekah for dessert, and a pot of cardamom-spiced qahwa to finish.
